Lincoln Christmas Market - 5th to 8th December, 2019

World famous and hugely popular, the Lincoln Christmas Market is an absolute must. Over 250 stalls stretching through the historic quarter of Lincoln. The market surrounds the majestic Lincoln Cathedral, down to the English Heritages' Bishops Palace, around and inside the Lincoln Castle, into The Lawn and back around the Bailgate.

Do you like delicious local treats, traditional german sausages, lovely gluwein / mulled wine, the smell of street food like hog roasts and venison, fresh doughnuts, delightful churros and so much more? There's fairground rides, music and fun for kids and all the family. Don't miss the Ferris wheel, bumper cars and teacups!

The Lincoln Christmas Market stalls contain gifts, crafts, arts, handmade stocking fillers, wines, spirits, confectionary, sweets, clothes, roasted nuts, and so much more.

Wondering when is The Lincoln Christmas Market 2019 - it is open for the first weekend in December every year - Lincoln Christmas Market 2019 opening hours and times are below.

How to get there and where to park

If you drive to Lincoln, be aware you cannot park anywhere close by because of the scale / size of the market and amount of visitors.

Don't worry though, the park and ride is really well organised, very regular and actually makes the whole experience a lot easier. The park and ride operates from The Lincolnshire Showground off the A15 (search postcode LN1 2ZF). Prices are between £12 and £15 depending on day, time and advance purchase. Buses frequency is approximately every 10 minutes and is from the start to the end of each day.

Have you thought about taking the train? More trains are scheduled for this busy period. To search for tickets and prices look at the LNER train website.

Lincoln is a small city and very walkable for most. The transport hub (bus station and train station) are a 20 to 30 minute walk from the Christmas Market, up Lincoln's high street and our famous Steep Hill (yes, it's really called Steep Hill). The last part might take more time but there are some great independent shops to walk by or pop into on the way!

Less able or older visitors

As you'd expect, the Lincoln Christmas Market gets very busy and some parts can be more crowded than others. At night, it's 'mood lit' and not always easy to see. It can also be very loud around some parts such as the fairground rides. There isn't an official accessibility guide that we know of so advice is to be cautious and ask City of Lincoln Council if you need to know more. The Lincoln Christmas Market is in old and historic parts of Lincoln where there are cobbled streets, raised steps or places of potentially difficult access - the Bishops Palace as example is particularly difficult. Westgate in contrast is just a standard street closed off with level pavement and wide tents.
